The April NABES workshop, led by Hayley Carr (Babraham Institute) and Eleanor D’Arcy (Environment Agency), explored mentoring and career development within the NABES community. Discussions covered a wide range of experiences, from mentoring and coaching schemes to user groups, work shadowing, and short “residency”-style visits. The workshop also explored what a mentoring approach tailored to the applied and interdisciplinary nature of the NABES community could look like, including support for both technical and professional development. Alongside mentoring, participants discussed the value of stronger community connections through informal networking, local meet-ups, and opportunities to connect across organisations and career stages
